1. The paper is arguing the good and the bad parts about Home
2. The underlying premise for this argument is: Home is like a pendulum that has its upsides and downsides
3. Three rhetorical moves:
a) Relates well to his audience: college age students living away from home.
b) Gives examples and scenarios that many people are able to relate to and agree with.
c) Good writing organization and clear. Interesting words and adjectives that "spice up" the writing.
Successful because: It kept me (the reader) interested the whole time and I wanted to keep reading to learn more about his home and his opinions.
I recommend that you try: more creative verbs and sentence structure.

Bog this: First thoughts
I've been thinking about my own draft for project 3, and I have to tell you that it is a masterpiece in the making. It is far from being perfect and needs lots of editing and further review from my peers. There are lots of good ideas that could be easily built into great paragraphs, but just need to be nourished into their full potential. The topic is a great topic and lots of good topics to write about.

Blog this: responding to a short video
This is relevant because we are currently examining writing mediums and the evolution of print text technology. The young girl who we are assuming cannot read or write yet shows us that technology is easier for her to manage than opening a book. She is able to manoever her way through an Ipad and figure out its functions than turn a page in a book. Children learn by example and it is proof that she is surrounded by a technological age and that digital technology is the direction in which writing is heading. The maker of the video uses a child to draw viewers and to indirectly show the viewers how easy digital technology is to use and the future that it is heading. The young girl is the future and it is looking like digital technology is her preferred medium rather than print text.
A sentence starts out like....
A sentence starts out like a subway ride. It has to be clear and state its purpose for a reader (passenger) to jump on. It requires connecting words, like train stations, to make sense and to help get people to where they need to be. Some people jump off it things get to complicated or they have already reached their destination. Passengers on the sentence train always look forward to the end of the ride and are anxious to find out how things end. The ride gets interesting and spices up with action words like verb and the use of descriptive adjectives. Adjectives provide the entertainment in the same way that people watching makes the train ride fun. Sentences end at the appropriate time and don't keep passengers on too long or boot them off too early. Sentences get people where they need to be to help connect the bigger picture of a paragraph or a story.

What's your relationship to the reader?
The people who often understand my writing are the readers who tend to share some similarities with me, while understanding my purpose. When the readers read my work, they feel a connection to what I have written and my opinions because they think in the same way. Readers who do not share the same views are often entertained by the piece of writing but do not share the same bond that others readers can have because the lack the connection. Readers feel comfort in situations where they share the same knowledge or opinion and appreciate writers who share the same thoughts. They just seem to "get it" and they understand my style of writing and my purpose. It's like going on a blind date, you will most likely get along the best with the person you find most in common with and make that special connection of familiarity and comfort.

Closer to home
It is possible that this hot place is like home. The hot days do arrive in the Okanagan Valley desert in British Columbia, Canada. During the summer the hot sun pours down from the sky and scorches all unprotected ghostly pale skin in sight. The nature is just as raw and beautiful and both places attract tourist from all sorts of different countries. People are self-sufficient and know how to work hard to earn a certain desired object. People from both places are happy and bright smiles.
[Place] is not like..
Home is not like this place. This place is flat and there are no mountains. This place is full of people who don't speak the same language. This place is one of the master city's of the world. This place is hot and sunny all the time and it is the most peaceful place on earth.
There are always people in shorts, do the people who live here even own pants? Everyone who lives here is relaxed and have no worries. They appear to never be stressed and they are peaceful, proud habitants of this wonderful place. The nature and the plants in this tropical world are loved and cherished by everyone, they are gifts from above. Occasionally, when the volcanoes overflow, they create a new lanscape, piling delicately on the geographical remnants of their ancestors. They might destroy fellow life forms, but are encouraging a new start on this land. The lava that occupies the surface of these islands is what defines this place. It is legendary and the reason why so many people love to visit this place. Visiting this place is a bit of a risk. Not knowing when these large mountains of fire will explode is always a mystery and yet we still continue to visit this place. We are all thrill-seekers in one way or another and enjoy the adrenalin rushes of life. This feeling of uncertainty and danger is definitely not like home.

Cue Card Quiz
Many writers do not want a medium of writing to describe their work. Some writers emphasize too greatly on how greatly different mediums impact their writing. Whether you choose to write on a computer or with a pen, your writing should remain true to yourself. Media engulfs the writing world too much in our society. The different types of media and the opinions regarding the writing space have swelled into a global issue.

First thoughts.
Home is like my paradise. It is filled with the people I love and has all my favorite things. I have all my things in one place and everything is nearby. It is a place to relax and there is no need to have to look nice or to have to try. I am able to walk around in pajamas or sweatpants all day if I feel like it! My mini chihuahua guards the house and will keep out any intruders... yah right. She is cute though, and we cuddle while watching our favorite movies. Home is in Canada where it is always so peaceful, no one has to lock their doors or fear anything. There are great mountains that keep our city safe and let us ski on their slopes. These majestic shapes are the Rocky Mountains, famous for their beauty. The ocean close by and the hot temperatures in this desert, there is no better place to be.

Blog This: What Is the Argument?
The argument in the Bolter Chapter 3 Prezi argues mainly about hypertext and digital technology versus the old, traditional print text. The group states how hyper text and digital media is more efficient than its predecessor, print text. Print text has no depth or clickable links, it is a linear way of writing and the medium puts limits on imagination. Hypertext has infinite possibilities and with the simple click of a button you can access any link on the web immediately and the only limit is your own imagination.

Taylor Mali: "Like You Know"
After viewing "Like You Know" in both versions of presentation, I can understand how great of an impact the method of presentation has on its audience. When viewing someone speak in real life, it is harder to concentrate on the context of what the speaker is saying due to the fact that there are so many other visual distractions going on around the presenter. Things such as backgrounds, audience and the speakers facial expressions are all distractions that might pry the viewers mind away from the importance of the speakers intended context. When viewing the poem in unconventional print text, the viewers are able to focus much more attention on the actual information and context of what is being said and it allow the viewers to create their own presentation in their minds and to think more about the information. Many viewers are also more visual learners instead of auditory learners and having the words present themselves in front of them allows them to retain more of the valuable knowledge.

Ireconcible Dissonance - Quiz Corrections
Brian Doyle exposes his views to the reader about divorce and the crazy life of marriage. One important segment that the author discussed is when he quotes "We were both just tired", reveals lots about his views in the entity of the article. After he states this, he then goes on to metaphorically copare things that people give up on. The comparison is made with a belt with extra holes that will never be used, the flashlight that will never be used and how marriage will never last.
Doyle's use of the word "never" in repetition emphasizes the dramatical emotions of his writing. His metaphor indirectly shows us he believes marriage is just another thing that won't work out. Couples get "too tired" and it's a failure in the same ay as the belt and the flashlight. As much as one may hope to use that flashlight some day, in the end it's just going to be "too tiring" to even give it hope.

Are you [Ever] Afraid to Write?
There are without questions times where I am afraid to write. Some days when I have had a emotional day or a day where I don't feel I may be thinking clearly, I am afraid to write. I am scared that I may write something that I don't believe or that if I read my work in a day or two, I may not agree with what I had written down. For me to be able to write clearly and focussed, I need to be in a calm state and my mind should be overflowing with thoughts solely about writing. I find it hard to write on days where my thoughts are subconsciously thinking about something else and concentrating on things other than writing. It is on days like this where I fear my own writing. With all sorts of different thoughts and ideas prancing around my brain I can't be sure what will actually turn up on the piece of paper. I take my writing personally and feel like I should be able to support and be confident with everything that I write, Jacques Derrida and I are on the same page when we can state that we take the act of writing seriously.
