What's your relationship to the reader?
The people who often understand my writing are the readers who tend to share some similarities with me, while understanding my purpose. When the readers read my work, they feel a connection to what I have written and my opinions because they think in the same way. Readers who do not share the same views are often entertained by the piece of writing but do not share the same bond that others readers can have because the lack the connection. Readers feel comfort in situations where they share the same knowledge or opinion and appreciate writers who share the same thoughts. They just seem to "get it" and they understand my style of writing and my purpose. It's like going on a blind date, you will most likely get along the best with the person you find most in common with and make that special connection of familiarity and comfort.
